U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and 16 CFR 1633
Using 16 CFR 1633, the CPSC will rely on the open flame test as a method for determining whether mattresses meet the criteria set forth in the new rules. It applies to all mattress sets sold in the United States.

The regulation further requires that mattress sets be labeled with language confirming the products' compliance with the new standard.
